Number of passengers falling in public transport decreased

The number of passengers having fallen in public transport decreased last year, according to information of "Rīgas satiksme". For example, there were only 7 such cases in December 2012, which was the lowest number last year. Just to compare: 16 passengers fell in January, 17 in April and 25 in May.

The importance of holding on in public transport is also testified by a public opinion poll carried out on the website of "Rīgas satiksme" at www.rigassatiksme.lv last December. 76% of respondents confirmed holding on in public transport, 9% said that they hold on, but noticed that others don’t, 6% don’t think about holding on, but 8% confirmed not holding on.

Last year a similar opinion poll was performed in social media. The followers of the "Rīgas satiksme" profile on popular portal draugiem.lv mostly said that they hold on themselves but notice that others don’t, while on Twitter a majority said that they hold on because it is safer.

"Rīgas satiksme" reminds having launched special explanatory campaign HOLD ON!  in November 2011. The aim of the campaign was to draw passengers’ attention to   safe trips in public transport. The need to hold on was reminded by information materials inside vehicles and at public transport stops. Public transport drivers were also instructed about safe passenger transportation.
